The majority of images in the Wharton Centre Collection depict African American youth engaged in activities sponsored by the organization. Items of particular note include images of the Centre's basketball team the Wharton Sounders, and the scrapbook entitled "Wharton's Way to Freedom." The scrapbook, produced ca. 1952-1953, shows youths loitering on streets and then engaged in productive activities, illustrating the Centre's positive effect.
